The honourary flag-raising ceremony took place on Wednesday, July 31 at 6:00 pm at Sunshine Square on Brian Collier Way at the Bradford West Gwillimbury Leisure Centre.

CANADIAN NATIONAL PEACEKEEPERS DAY Friday, August 9, 2019
WHEREAS: We raise the United Nations flag on behalf of the past, present and future peacekeepers residing in Central Ontario; and

WHEREAS: On August 9, 1974, an aircraft was shot down during peacekeeping duties, ultimately killing all nine personnel on board. It was and still is the largest loss of Canadian Peacekeepers in a single day. Cpl B.K. Stringer and WO C.B. Korejwo were two soldiers from this area that made the supreme sacrifice; and

WHEREAS: The United Nations flag is raised and flown to honour the memory of the many Canadians who have given their lives in the service of peace. It also demonstrates our continued support of the brave men and women who are currently on active duty in foreign lands; and

WHEREAS: We continue to recognize our home town hero, Sapper Brian Collier, amongst the Canadian soldiers who have lost their lives while serving in Afghanistan.

Forevermore, may we honour their sacrifice and the sacrifices made by their families and loved ones at home.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That His Worship Mayor Rob Keffer and Members of Council proclaim August 4-10, 2019 as PEACEKEEPERS WEEK in the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury, and recognize August 9 as CANADIAN NATIONAL PEACEKEEPERS DAY.

The Town of BWG Office of Economic Development, in partnership with the Bradford Board of Trade, is pleased to celebrate another Group Grand Opening for four new Bradford business owners.

The Group Grand Opening is for business owners without a brick and mortar storefront presence. The event started at 10 am on Saturday, November 24 in the Multi-purpose Room of the BWG Library.

Mayor Rob Keffer and members of council along with MPP Caroline Mulroney hosted a ribbon cutting. and photo opportunity at 10:15 am.

Henderson Memorial Park – Bradford West Gwillimbury

The official ribbon cutting for the Opening of Henderson Park in the town of Bradford West Gwillimbury. Bradford Mayor Rob Keffer and members of council came out to do the official ribbon cutting. The park is now open from 9 am to 11 pm daily, There is a basketball court, Tennis Court, 3 soccer fields & splash pad ( opening on June 1st. ) So far, this is phase 1. The Henderson Memorial Park property is comprised of 97 acres and is located on the south-west corner of Sideroad 10 and Line 9, and includes a rolling topography with natural features including a creek system and a small woodlot. The property was donated by Mrs. Phyllis Henderson in 2009 to the municipality for active and passive recreational purposes suitable for the entire family. The Department of Leisure Services along with the project consultant worked with the public on the planning and design process. Henderson Memorial Park will be a key destination for all residents of Bradford West Gwillimbury with a variety of needs and interests.
